How Now 25?

SEPTEMBER 11TH
Wakey Wakey, said Autumn never.
Happy new season to you all. All of you! Even those that dread the longer nights. It must affect more of you that live in the sticks with no man made light pollution to hand. That has to be a thing.
In the meantime; London. We are taking a wee break from all things Gallery.
Until, that is, our next show, which opens 6 weeks today! I won’t mention actual dates right now because that might throw you off kilter. It is still a long long way away (it really isn’t, therefore.............).
It will be with great pleasure to welcome Artists Katy Binks and Lucy Spanyol into the 73 fold. Their joint show entitled 'The Saying, and the Said' opens on Thursday 23rd October at 18:00 at Studio 73, Arch 18, Valentia Place SW9 8PJ.
Both artists have spent time in the original Studio 73, and to allow for their differences, artistically speaking, I cannot wait to see both styles of work presenting themselves, together, in one space. Studio 73 space.
SEPTEMBER 10TH
Ghastly, this Giddy step.
6 weeks to Showtime. So. Need to start making more noise on the channels. With structure. I know not this Structure. 6 pieces of visual information to engage the viewer to what is going on. This week.. a simple 'coming soon' sign. Made with the letters of 73. and then, more news as we (week 5) get it.
AUGUST 29th
August, but, where are you? I feel sadness that we are letting you disappear. For want to extend time. but, why? Who designed this anxiety?
Good. I think I have nailed the glueing of the washers to brick walls. And. It should never be so difficult. The basics. And now! I can stick my posters up. And I wonder. These 60x40" posters. Could they be one off prints? There is something in this. Somehow. Because my churn is strong. But, then; maybe an edition of... what? 10? All sold with hand written notes attached about the work, and to lean on ai;
Share the Feeling: When you talk about this piece (on your website, social, or in person), focus on the emotion and intention behind it. Invite people to imagine how it would feel to live with this artwork—how it could fill their space with warmth, joy, and love.
Thanks. I am not sure that my work beats love, necessarily. It beats a stillness, really. It presents a quiet. Yet, there is a hostility in some of the pictures, a fastness, perhaps. Movement. There, that is it.
I can't help playing with the colour spectrums on the computer. It brings a whack to proceedings. I would argue, with myself, that an image should be Powerful enough without computer alterations. Maybe provocation is a ticket to enabling, though. `I see a lot of humanity in my work mostly with the help of alterations.
What we thinking, then. These one off £250 pieces. The Posters. Or an edition of 10. Or, Open House policy. Maybe I ask ai, aye. Results to follow/below.

AUGUST 21st
Listen. I know we hear it all the time, I know we say it all the time, and the worst is; we feel it, like, all the time. Like, today! It is the 21st August today. This Time flying (and our need to openly discuss it!)
Perhaps we absorb wrong intentions in our day to day, by dedicating our time to little pieces of technology, that we clamp with our hands? I am sure that days Were longer long before these screens. Eek, October, preparing it's eerie head, and I am still in May (late May, granted).
JULY 24th
It isn't really 24th July, I am making it up. We are still languishing in mid-April. We are! Check your phones. Ok, we are not in mid-april, but I Do love the idea of May 'fast approaching'. Don't you?
Oh, August, you silly fart. Get back in the cupboard.
Driving back to London today. Wondering why I have a calling to stay where I am. Cancel London. Cancel August. And then what? Somehow, dear, we will cope.
JULY 1ST Ot Ot Ot.
Brixton Paintings is down, gracefully, and a most excellent experience, if not eye opening. Clouding around isn't going to cut it!
So. Group Show next. The Friends of the Galleries. Presented, this time, or so we propose; high tempo tech Live studio sort of stuff, which should be fun featuring the Bernard.. Bernard will have thoughts. Hoping to do this as a new format, in a new format whereby (which isn't new, it is borrowed from Star Test early 90s TV) the participant will be presented with the question in the form of a written question rather than a host. In a way the participant is pretty much on their own to respond to a question. On the spot.
and then, what. Man. What? You want me to squeeze in more daily stuff to accommodate the, wha...... Need to work out where my money is coming from and am embracing shopify..  a lively moving quickly means to tell the world about your product. Or so I read. If it works (it could even work) it might free me up from the (problem is I do enjoy driving all around London, and see it as a therapy ((but is it, really!?)) whatever it is that fills my week. Rebrand Weeks to Days coming very soon.
I would very much appreciate people liking and buying my work. So. What is the barrier? Failure? Have I even considered this. This could be a barrier, but, I am also reticent at turning what I truly love doing into a product. It lifts people? Oh. Creates new deadlines, then! Objection your honour. Y'honorrah.
I do want to start an Audio Player page on www.studio73art.com might even get it started today. Another new format whereby participants send in a 1 minute sound snap of, well, whatever they choose. Conversation. White noise. Beeps. Clapping. A Sound Project, ah, there is the title.
In fact. Job done. The cradle for a sound project is born.

JUNE 23RD 2025 - JIMMYS BIRTHDAY.
He is 52. Happy bloody birthday Jimmy, you master stroke!
..and alsorts. We filmed the Artist Q&A featuring Bernard. It is actually Bernard's Tombola Cage, but, we think it is ok to refer to the ball machine as Bernard. He has thoughts, after all.
So. Link here; Or no. @studio73art on YouTube is where it resides. These things can always be better, but, all these dice. We will learn. One will learn. And Marie Lenclos on show at Studio 73. Back in the gallery rhythm, full throttle, no aeroplane. By golly. I think the News is speeding us all up like London Pigeons, quick. Now. I live in a suspense that it is Time at the bar. So, quick. Now.
And for what. These screens hide us. and it suits us. Like, socially knackered. Socially more knackered.
I blame electricity.

JUNE 5th 2025
Off to see Matthew Kolakowski's work, in a group show over near Canning Town.

Why not? Don't Really Know. No rush!
MAY 7th 2025
I know it gets faster as we progress on with our lives, but wait a minute, 25. And all the things, to deal with, all the stuff, the exciting stuff with deadlines, suddenly. 2025.

73 needs a hard press, with a canny reliance on outside influence. We need bigger headlines, no, perhaps more inspiring headlines. there is more than enough Bigger headlines, more impressive headlines. Have you been shook over the years, well! Nothing compares with 25, nothing is even allowed to compete. The ailments of humanity before? Yesterdays news.

Art.

Buttered with so much noise, electronic noise. Heady and powerful. Momentary lapses are valuable. Peaceful moments need a greater stage. The world is a stage, and a blank canvas presents itself. Stay blank! Don’t blister me with detail, allow my mind to wander in wonder.

Art without statement.

Artist without Statement!
The images below are part of a collection of work printed as 60x40" poster prints that were on display at The Bear public house on the Camberwell New Road, SE5.
The proprietors gave me one large wall to work with allowing for the positioning of 3 of the posters, all in portrait format, next to each other.  The poster sequence was then changed across the show period. In-situ Images to follow.
